In a context of growing concern about the effects of climate change in urban environments, real-time environmental monitoring has become a fundamental tool for the development of sustainable strategies. At WDTech, we are proud to be part of the SERVECO II R&D&I project, an initiative led by Althenia Sando, with funding from the Andalusian Technology Corporation (CTA) and the collaboration of the University of Malaga (UMA). Our participation in this project focuses on the implementation of our Meteo sensor system, an advanced IoT solution for meteorological and environmental monitoring.
Meteo's role in SERVECO IISERVECO II expands the research initiated in the first phase of the project, with the objective of evaluating the ecosystem services provided by urban trees and their impact on mitigating climate change and pollution. To achieve this, the collection of accurate, real-time data on environmental conditions in cities is crucial.
Our Meteo sensors play a key role in this research by allowing the continuous measurement of critical variables such as:• Temperature and humidity: fundamental for the detection of urban heat islands and the evaluation of climatic comfort.• Air quality: monitoring the presence of pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and suspended particles (PM10 and PM2.5).• Atmospheric conditions: recording key meteorological parameters that influence the dispersion of pollutants and the development of urban microclimates.
Benefits of IoT monitoring in urban adaptationThe incorporation of advanced technologies such as Meteo in urban environmental analysis allows:• Identify vulnerable urban areas with less presence of vegetation and greater risk of exposure to extreme weather conditions.• Evaluate the effectiveness of green infrastructure in improving air quality and reducing the heat island effect.• Optimize urban decision-making through real-time data analysis and predictive modeling.• Comply with environmental regulations and facilitate access to European financing thanks to the quantification of the positive environmental impact.
One more step towards more resilient citiesWDTech's commitment to innovation and sustainability is materialized in projects such as SERVECO II, where the combination of IoT, remote sensing and data analysis contributes to more efficient and responsible management of the urban environment. Thanks to our Meteo system, we are advancing in the transformation of cities into more resilient spaces prepared to face the challenges of climate change. We continue to focus on research and development of technological solutions that improve the quality of life in cities and enhance the role of green infrastructure in urban sustainability.
